The resource room has officially been cleaned out for the 2010 year! What a task. It is amazing how messy a place can get when there are lots of people who use it and when I don't take the time to maintain it. Kind of like our spiritual lives. When we don't take the time to maintain it and we don't spend time with other christians, our lives can get very messy! Study your bible and fellowship with those often who have made Jesus Christ the Lord of their lives.

I have begun to study the New Testament for my ladies bible study this fall. After reading the first portion of Matthew, my mind has been stuck on the temptation of Jesus scriptures. What kind of communion with God did Jesus experience during those 40 days of fasting and prayer? When the "tempter" came to him, did Jesus recognize him or did he entertain the idea of eating for just a few seconds? How does the devil "take/lead" Jesus to the temple? Was "sin" pretty to Jesus until he realized the full extent of what Satan was asking Him to do? Surely it would have been exciting to Jesus to reach the highest point of the temple in his earthly body. Then the tempter takes him to a mountian where he can see the kingdoms of the world. Why would Jesus keep going with him? After the 3rd temptation it is then that Jesus commands, "Away from me, Satan!" Then angels attend Him. I am most definately going to do some more research on this passage. I am continually amazed at how scriptures come to life in different ways when you read them at different points in your life. He is so very good to us!

How often do we spend time following the Holy Spirit? It isn't enough to know about Him. Or to just hear Him. We have to act upon what He is telling us. Unfortunatly in the past I have admitted to people that I was thinking about them and ALMOST called them. They noted, I sure could have used someone to talk to. It kills me! The Holy Spirit was guiding me and I ingnored Him. If we all lived in "tune" with the Holy Spirit, just think about what the town of Washington would look like! Thank you Lord for all the wonderful gifts that you give us.

Attending the North American Christian Convention last week was amazing! I was able to hear one of my favorite speakers, Francis Chan. He shared with us a personal story about having to tell his daughter that he did not see evidence of the Holy Spirit in her life. Wow! Could I do that? Worse yet, what if someone said that to me? Somehow we as "Christians" have settled for not seeing evidence of the Holy Spirit in peoples lives. We go from day to day more surprised when we do see evidence of the Holy Spirit in someones life. I am convinced that the day is approaching when Jesus will return for His people. I ask that anyone who reads this blog to pray for me. Pray for the people of New Hope Christian Church. Pray for Washington, Indiana. May the Holy Spirit do an amazing work in our lives!

Am I an Isrealite? So in my mind I have divided the bible into 3 categories: 1. God's blessings 2. Jesus' love for us and 3. Living with the Holy Spirit. When I think of the 1st, it troubles me to think those Isrealites were handed food and water, saw the parting of the Red Sea, the 10 plagues and so on and they were still filled with unbelief! Then Jesus comes along to save the world and they don't get it. They kill Him. Now we are left with the amazing gift of the Holy Spirit. It's wonderful and amazing. I pray that I am not acting like an Isrealite. Receiving this precious gift from God and not "getting it"!
