Why, why why, do we continue to be as the Corinthian church? 2 Corinthians 4:4 made me pause and think this morning about Christ's light. It states that "the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers". Then I go back and reread 2 Corinthians 2:11. What are we doing people to win against the enemy?

I am finding the story in Acts 20:7-12 very funny this morning. Here is the story in my own words. Paul is heading to an uncertian fate in Jerusalem. (sound familiar-Jesus) He wants to train and encourage the people at Troas. He teaches and THEY listen until midnight. A young man seated in the window goes to sleep and falls out the third story window. He's dead. Paul pauses his teaching session, goes down and throws himself on the young man and brings him back to life. He goes back upstairs, breaks bread and teaches until daylight. Seriously, people were willing to lisiten to him for many hours, we don't even like hour church services, a young man falls asleep while he is teaching, falls out the window and dies, almost like a soap opera. Paul is unshaken, he heals the boy and continues teaching until morning. No distractions could keep Paul from sharing the news he needed to share. Life is so full of distractions. How many of your distractions keep you from sharing the good news?

The conference I attended last week about equipping people for service was awesome. It was good to get away and focus on areas of my life that need to improve and those that by the grace of God I am doing right. As I was sitting in bible study this morning with some wonderful women studying the book of Acts. it occurred to me that I have no idea what it's like to REALLY serve Jesus. To be bold in my faith. The time is coming, the bible says, when we will be persecuted for our faith. I pray I am like Stephen, Philip, Peter etc. Lord help me to be a totally devoted servant!
